Volunteering is for everyone

Volunteering is a wonderful way to contribute to the overall well being of our region. You will have the chance to learn skills, make new friends, and, most importantly, to share your experience and your willingness to help with those who need it the most.

VolunteerWay is a FREE interactive web site that enables people to locate
volunteer opportunities in the Greater Delaware Valley area. Site visitors can find their ideal volunteer opportunity with just the click of the mouse. This "virtual volunteer center" helps community-based organizations recruit volunteers and offers tracking and reporting features to support corporate volunteer programs.

VolunteerWay helps volunteers and students to:

  • Find an opportunity that matches their interests, time constraints and geographic location by specifying keywords, zip codes and other criteria.
  • Search an online database of over 1800 volunteer opportunities including all types of agencies and organizations, special events, individual and group volunteer opportunities.
  • View an online calendar of volunteer opportunities for any specified month(s)
  • Receive updated email announcements on new volunteer opportunities that match your profile as they arise.

VolunteerWay helps non-profit agencies/organizations to:

  • Recruit volunteers online and increase their volunteer power!
  • Position their volunteer opportunities in front of a greater audience.
  • Register their volunteer opportunities and agency background information for potential volunteers to review AND update what they want online.
  • Receive email and/or phone notification from interested volunteers

Philadelphia Cares mobilizes people to address the critical social, educational, and environmental needs of the Greater Philadelphia region through volunteer action. Philadelphia Cares provides community service  to tutor children, feed hungry people, assist people living with disabilities, revitalize gardens, visit senior citizens and much more. Start off with a brief Orientation Session and you could be volunteering before you know it. Call them at 215-564-4544 or visit the Web site to see Orientation times and locations throughout the City.

Other people with mental retardation are currently volunteers in day care centers, libraries, hospitals, theaters, senior citizen centers and Habitat for Humanity.
